Like some sort of Geonosian droid factory LucasArts never tires of churning out Star Wars third-person, action-packed vehicle sims and The Clone Wars is no exception.
Starting on the aforementioned rocky planet, you play through the events leading to the brave rescue of Anakin, Obi-Wan and Amidala from the clutches of Count Dooku. The game continues on into uncharted territory, introducing you to the major battles of the infamous Clone Wars, which began at the end of Episode II. Take the role of three great Jedi - Mace Windu, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi - and lead the Republic forces to victory piloting ground vehicles, aircraft and even on foot.
The Clone Wars gives you the opportunity to get behind the 'wheel' of many vehicles familiar to fans of Episode II including the Republic Gunship, Assualt Walkers and Speeder Bike. You'll also need to master unfamiliar craft including the powerful, repulsorlift Fighter Tank and the lizardine Maru from the Wookiee world of Kashyyyk. Regardless of your vehicle of choice, you'll need all your Jedi wits about you as you face off against 30 Separatist war machines including Spider and Hailfire Droids. Utilise the various weapons systems of your Republic vessels and issue simple orders to your clone forces to out-manoeuvre and out-gun your opposition.
An opportunity to give Darth Tyranus (Dooku) a bloody nose after what he did to poor Anakin and annoy the hell out of Darth Sidious is not one to be sniffed at. Add to that the chance to pilot five high-tech, cutting edge military vehicles and fact that you're not just some clone but a kick-ass Jedi (three in fact) and Clone Wars becomes more tempting than the Dark Side. Mix in a two-player, split screen mode and more Bonus features than you can shake a Gaffi stick at and you'll be down the Republican Army recruitment centre before you can say "Look out Jango, he's got a lightsaber".
