Ride off into a platinum-tinged sunset with this saddlebag full of advice from the official PlayStation Community.
Calling all gunslingers, scavengers and bounty hunters. Red Dead Redemption offers one of the toughest yet most rewarding platinum trophy hunts on PlayStation 3, so if you find tumbleweed bowling across your own attempt, let the official PlayStation Community help you out with a little inspiration
"As in most Rockstar games, there are many different tasks to complete before getting the platinum trophy. More than half of the total trophies can be found in the main story missions, with the rest dotted throughout the Wild West setting and found online.
"Look out for the 'Spurred to Victory' trophy. You need to complete 20 story missions without changing horses, which means keeping it out of harm's way during missions. If you ever find yourself on another horse, just make sure you don't tie it to a hitching post outside your safe house.
"When it comes to reaching level 50 in the game's multiplayer mode for the 'How the West Was Won' trophy, a bit of patience has a big impact. Rockstar holds regular Multiplayer Events for triple experience points (XP) rewards, so hang on for one of those if you can and give yourself a real boost towards that trophy. Look for hideouts to clear out – it's another way of racking up that XP." (ShinYagami13, Greece)
"The platinum trophy popped for me when I finally escaped the US marshals in the trophy named 'Heading South on a White Bronco'. The most difficult trophy for me was 'Most Wanted', where you become a public enemy and have to survive for ten minutes. I'd suggest going to the town of Blackwater, holing up in a building and taking potshots at passing raiders until the bounty on your head is sitting at $1,000." (Khurghan, Spain)
"This was the most difficult platinum trophy to get in my entire collection. Luckily the game is awesome and I don't regret any of the hours I spent trying to finish it.
The hardest trophy is surely 'Redeemed' – awarded for completing the single player game with a 100 per cent rating – just because it takes so much effort." (Magiia, Italy)
"One trophy that I found difficult to track down on the way to platinum was 'Unnatural Selection', where you need to kill one of each of the animal species in the game. My tips for this are: get a drink, stay patient and keep your fingers crossed! The ducks can only be found in two places, for instance, while the buffalo are incredibly rare..." (Angershock, Netherlands)
"My single most helpful tip is to look out for Multiplayer Events from Rockstar. I managed to hit level 50 for the 'How the West Was Won' trophy in one weekend – I found the gang hideout at Pike's Basin and attacked it again and again.
"Keep an eye on Rockstar's Multiplayer Event page. New events pop up every now and again, so it's useful to watch the publisher's Twitter feed too: twitter.com/RockstarGames." (MissSouthampton, UK)
"I loved this single player campaign, it's one of the best I have ever played. The multiplayer mode is good fun too, but be warned: some of these trophies are truly hard. The real trick to collecting your multiplayer trophies is to find a good crew of players to work with – if you cover their backs and help them achieve their own particular objectives, they'll do the same for you." (Savill, UK)
