Driving test

The first level gives Sackboy time to practise his skills behind the wheel. Pick your controls and familiarise yourself with the drifting style of your kart and its weapons. Applying drift around corners gives you a controlled slide and fills up your boost meter. Weapons let you attack other racers and defend yourself from their assaults with some clever timing. Mastering these skills is vital, and this track provides the chance to practise without the distraction of other racers.

Hug the curves

The next level is a three-lap race to the finish. To win, it is important to conquer the drift ability, making sure to charge your boost for some all-important speed bursts. As you make your way around the track, look out for the shortcut located at the bottom of the course, which saves you valuable seconds. However, be aware that the shortest route isn't always the fastest. Collecting weapons and boosts is also key to a successful race, so don't be afraid to go wide on a bend to grab an item.

Ready... aim... fire!

Filled with weapons and traps, the third level is a battle arena. Pitting you against seven other computer controlled characters, use any weapons you can to destroy the other drivers. Drive in a speedy, unpredictable style to make it harder for your enemies to lock on to you, and constantly keep an eye out for weapons. While blowing up other players can earn you a point, that same weapon can also keep you alive, so dominate this level by thinking about your defence as much as your attack.

Smashing fun

The final level puts you in control of a fire-breathing dinosaur, chasing trucks around a maze. Racing against the timer, you have to destroy 40 trucks and you'll need a good strategy to back you up. Crushing a truck adds extra time to the clock, so be sure to keep a constant rate of dino-destruction going to prevent the level coming to a premature end.

Pay attention to the on-screen arrows which show where all your targets are located. Use these to chase down packs of nearby trucks and herd them into corners. Providing you always go after larger groups, you will usually get to the trucks before the time expires, and quickly rack up the required score.
