Think you're a hardened survivor? Read on and decide.
Here are eight things to try out on your next supply raid:
1. Use height to your advantage
Climb on vehicles, boxes and other objects to see further and get the drop on your enemies. You'll be able to throw objects further as well. Be careful not to linger too long though, there's not a lot of cover on the roof of an ambulance.
2. Help your teammates to overcome the smoke bomb/shiv move
When stunned by a smoke bomb, you're vulnerable to a shiv from any direction, not just behind. It's extremely tough to defend against this move, but if you see a nearby ally get hit by a smoke bomb, try standing in front of them and waiting for the kamikaze charge of an enemy through the smoke. They won't be expecting you.
3. Be wary of bombs
Tap the R1 button to drop a bomb and it will act as a proximity mine that will explode when an enemy walks near it. Mark enemy bombs for your teammates by pressing the R3 button when aiming at them, or simply shoot them to set them off.
4. Save the easier random event goals until later in the game
When you're further along in the 12-week overarching story of your clan, 100% of your population will be at risk in a few random events, so it's worth saving the easier goals like healing teammates and gifting items for these occasions.
5. Run away when the odds are against you
If you're outnumbered, standing firm and managing to down an enemy or two is useless as their teammates will simply revive them. It's better to run away, take stock and regroup with your team.
6. Dress for the occasion
Nothing intimidates like a ravenous group of marauders chasing you down in rag-tag bits of army kit, clown masks and welding helmets. You can download extra costume items from PlayStation Store and it's all Cross-Buy with the PlayStation 3 edition.
7. Be unpredictable
Once you've learnt the basics, try being a bit random to keep your enemies guessing. Lead them into a part of the map that doesn't see a lot of action; run in circles during melee encounters; spray bullets, even when an enemy is in cover; save your bombs and then throw two or three at a time and watch the chaos unfold.
8. Special executions are risky
You're at the mercy of anyone nearby when you decide to go in for a special execution. There are safer ways to finish off a downed enemy that won't get you killed too...
