Experience arcade hits on PSP
Master the past in SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1.
Fans of retro classics on PSP are in for a blast from the past with this amazing compilation of coin-op hits from yesteryear. SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 features 16 games from SNK's Neo-Geo heyday including beat-em-ups such as the Art Of Fighting and Fatal Fury and side scrolling shooters Metal Slug and Last Resort. It's not just all fighting and shooting, though. There are some great sports games in here too including the addictive golfer, Neo Turf Master, Baseball Stars 2 and Super Sidekicks 3, all of which will test your retro gaming sports skills to the max.
One of the great things about SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 is that if you missed out on the Neo-Geo boom, and never got the chance to experience these games when they ruled the arcades or debuted on the Neo-Geo system itself, SNK have provided you with a fantastic opportunity to rediscover these timeless titles on your PSP.
Unlock the secrets of SNK
Choosing which game you want to play is simple thanks to a user friendly scrolling interface that highlights each of the game's original arcade screen.
Once you've chosen your game you can either play it on your own or with a friend in Ad Hoc Mode via Wireless multiplayer. Playing alongside a friend is a great way to experience these games as they were meant to be played in the arcade, and it definitely adds a wealth of additional hours to your playing time too.
Each of the games on offer has a number of extras for you to unlock. Requirements for each one vary from finishing an entire game on a particular difficulty setting, or blazing through a mission in a game without dying or using continues. Once you've successfully achieved one or all of these goals you're treated to extras such as concept art from selected games in the collection.
Other bonuses open up a large number of move lists for the brawling games in the line-up such as Fatal Fury and Art Of Fighting. In adding goals to each of the games, you're encouraged to play through and complete objectives in each of the 16 titles to unlock all of the game's secrets, which adds a lot to the playing time across each of the different genres alongside the single and multiplayer modes.
Hand drawn action
From soccer games to sci-fi shooters and wrestling with giant monsters in downtown Tokyo, SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 packs in a myriad of thrills and spills from the golden age of arcade gaming. Plus, with SNK games famed for their amazingly crafted hand drawn characters, animation and levels, you get to experience all over again (or for the first time) the stunning amount of work and detail that went into crafting past hits such as Burning Fight, Shock Troopers and Top Hunter.
With hundreds of great SNK titles to choose from, subsequent volumes of SNK Arcade Classics should keep retro gamers' appetites sated for a long time to come. For now though, 16 of the finest SNK has to offer are ready and waiting for you to master on PSP.
