Save the world tree...
The story of Young Thor is based around Yggdrasil, the world tree. The tree has stood for eternity and binds together the nine worlds. Underneath Yggdrasil is the well of fate, guarded by the Norns: Skuld, Urd and Verdandi.
In a cruel twist of fate, Hel, goddess of the underworld, has kidnapped the Norns and left the tree unattended and desperate for the water from the well. To guard the Norns, Hel has curses two powerful beings, Ratatoskr, a horned squirrel, and Nidhogg the dragon.
Young Thor is the only one who can face Hel and restore peace throughout the land and rescue the three Norns.
Beasts, monsters and goblins
Young Thor throws you into the mystical world of Midgard, the world of men, and Asgard, the realm of the gods. Connected by Bifröst, the rainbow bridge, Midgard and Asgard are filled with all sorts of challenges for you to overcome.
Armed with the trademark hammer of Thor, you're able to swipe and attack opponents, hurl them into the air and strike them with lightning as you take on Hel and her cursed allies. On your journey, you will explore four different levels; two are set in Midgard, the third in Bifröst, the connecting bridge, and the fourth in Asgard.
Each level has four variations for you to uncover new artefacts and take on different enemies, but the fundamental layout of the level remains the same in each variation. Once a level is completed, it will open up the next variation of that level, and also the next level in the series. Some variations allow you to explore alternate paths, so keep your eyes peeled for any new adventures.
God of thunder
Young Thor sees you exploring the worlds of Midgard and Asgard on your mission to save three Norn maidens who have been kidnapped by the Goddess of the Underworld, Hel. On your journey you must defeat Hel's allies who are determined to prevent you from saving the Norns.
Enemies range from giant Bladed Spiders to eerie Banshees, the flying souls of the dead. Each enemy requires a different attack approach, meaning you will find yourself striking confused Trolls from behind, dodging the life-threatening screams of the Banshees and striking small feisty Goblins with your axe.
Remember to watch out for any tasty looking treats you may come across on your missions; they are Idun's apples, gifts from an allied goddess. The red apples replenish your health, the blue ones replenish your magic and the golden ones top up both health and magic.
At the end of each level you'll find yourself in a confined combat space where you must defeat a number of brutal enemies if you wish to proceed. The enemies within these tight bubbles are hell-bent on ending your mission, so tactical gameplay and quick thinking are paramount if you're to save the Norns.
